DECEMBER 17TH - FAMILY FUN DAY
LOOKS LIKE CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY FOR THE CLUB
The porta loos have disappeared (thank goodness) and we are preparing to say a farewell to Colin and his team of builders. They have worked so efficiently around the club, and the club has worked pretty well around them. All going to plan we have final handover and inspection on Friday, the club could be available on the weekend. If there is any work that needs to be completed it may take a few days next week to finish...but we are very very close.
There are a few items which need to finished by the club that were outside the council scope of work. Obviously we couldn't do this while it was a closed building site. Ceri and Clare are already looking at plans and schedules to complete these outstanding items.
TWILIGHT TENNIS TUESDAYS
4:30 PM GRASS COURTS 1-4 (1 more week this year)
Lets finish off this year of twilight with a final session next Tuesday (12th December). Come on down and join in the fun. Want to work on your doubles: court coverage fitness and tactics? Need to practise your defense and attacking net play.
Come along and join in, the more the merrier. Anytime after 4:30pm

APTC BOARD AND BAR STAFF 2017/2018 This week our club board and bar staff got together to celebrate the end of another year. As a training event (and a bit of fun) for our bar staff we had a cocktail challenge. Georgia, Bryce and Alex whipped up some wicked cocktails (Nutcracker, French Martini and Georgia's whole lot of rum) The winning cocktail will be appearing on the club bar list very soon, although they were all very good.
HOT SHOTS GRANT
Did you know we have the only permanent Hot Shot grass courts in the state, and they are magnificent. (We think John Gillett grooms theM every day)
The club is applying for the ANZ $10,000 Hotshots Grant and Ian has some great programs that he wants to run. This money would help get these off the ground.
MONDAY NIGHT LADIES The Monday Night Ladies results are not on the Results page so are posted here. Thanks to Louise for this summary of the season. With one more week of play (11 dec) in the Monday night ladies comp before the long xmas break, the current scores see Team BJ King with a handy lead and they look promising to finish top of the ladder. All other teams are fighting for the remaining 3 semi final spots – and there is very little separating them at this stage. The competition will recommence on the 29th of Jan with finals in mid-March, so there is plenty of time and tennis left to secure finals spots.
no league matches this week but great to see so many juniors coming down to the club to meet up and have a hit during the holidays.
As club captain this year one of the parts of the job I wasn't looking forward to was tracking down players for teams at the last minute. It is always very stressful doing this. I have been pleasantly surprised that this has only happened a few times and each time I have found players who were keen to say yes and play (thank you). I hope I haven't jinxed it for the rest of the season .
If you are short of players or need your team list updated, please remember to email email@example.com and we will help you out.
Last round this week before the Christmas break.
It was great to read the results from Saturday on the club facebook page, captains please remember to update during the day / night, members are always interested in following your results (win or lose). You can post here:
You can also use this site if you are looking for a hitting partner or event information over the break.
Balls will be handed out for your first home match next year.

You will find everything you need to know here, about your matches and statistics, if you do not have a My Tennis Account you can join (top right) or login and view your dashboard. EVAN MANSO TAKING ON JOHN PEERS
Former APTC Club Champion Evan Manso is taking on John Peers at Mount Lawley this weekend. Good luck Evan, I am sure there will be a lot of APTC Members cheering you on.
We have noticed on many occasions the lights being left on when players have finished playing. Please turn off the lights if it is after 7:30pm and there are no other players coming onto the courts. The lights should automatically go off at 10pm, if they do not, please turn off the lights at 10pm (or as soon as you have finished the game you are on)
During the Tennis West Season teams will be using hard courts H1-H4 (and H5-H6 on Mondays) Mondays through to Thursdays. Please leave the lights on if you finish playing before 7:30pm
CLUB SECURITY We are seeing increased levels of after hours usage of the hut on court H4 (the West side of the club). Broken glass on the courts, graffiti and rubbish and drugs have been found in the area. Please keep an eye out for any unwelcome behaviour and contact police on 131444 if you see anything causing concern.
If you are using the courts, please take glass and rubbish with you when you leave the area.
The club has discussed this with the police and council and increased security patrols are being put in place in the area.
