WA Tennis Shutdown in Response to COVID-19 Hard Lockdown To the WA Tennis Community Instruction to cease, temporarily, tennis activity in Western Australia Effective from 6pm tonight, Sunday, 31 January 2021 until 6pm Friday, 5 February, the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel and South West regions will enter a 5-day lockdown, based on health advice. These measures are being implemented due to a fast evolving situation in Western Australia with the positive COVID-19 case detected in a hotel quarantine worker. The WA Government has instructed a number of facilities will need to close in the Perth, Peel and South West regions, including but not limited to gyms and indoor sporting venues as well as outdoor recreational facilities. As a result of these temporary measures, Tennis West is advising that all Tennis Clubs, Club Activities and Coaching Activities must cease operations immediately:
The 5-day lockdown will also deem that all Tennis West Leagues, competitions and tournamentsscheduled within the lockdown period be postponed. Please check the Tennis West League Noticeboard for details and updates to play. If you have any concerns regarding the above information, please contact your Regional Tennis Manager: Metro North clubs - Rob Kennedy - Robert.Kennedy@Tennis.com.au Metro South and Peel clubs - Michelle Magdy - MMagdy@Tennis.com.au South West clubs - Brooke Koenig - BKoenig@Tennis.com.au or Carina McMillen - CMcMillen@Tennis.com.au Regional North clubs - Craig Vinci - CVinci@Tennis.com.au For all Tennis West Leagues, Tournaments and Competitions enquiries, please contact waleagues@tennis.com.au If any Book A Court clubs require assistance closing online court bookings, please contact Charlotte King - CKing@Tennis.com.au or 0466694179 All COVID-19 information and relevant resources will continue to be updated on the dedicated COVID-19 page on the Tennis West website. Please continue to check for all updated information. For further information regarding the State Governments lockdown restrictions, please head to the WA Government website. We know our community loves our sport, and that this directive impacts the livelihood of our valued tennis coaches. However, this is a government mandate, and needs to be strictly adhered to by our tennis community, for this short period. Please stay home and stay safe. Kind regards, Olivia Birkett Acting CEO, Tennis West |

It has been great to see so many of you back enjoying the courts over the last few weeks and a warm welcome to our new members that have joined us. We are seeing much greater numbers than before on all of our social hitting days with members enjoying the sunshine, fresh air and exercise.
As you are most likely aware, the WA Government have recently updated their Closure and Restriction (Limit the Spread) Directions to cautiously relax social gathering restrictions from Monday 27 April.
Based on these new Directions, and the capacity of clubs and coaches to be able to effectively regulate and monitor gathering restrictions
and social distancing measures at their facility, Tennis West is making the following recommendations for those clubs and coaches who have
decided to re-open:
Our courts are open again!
We hope you are all staying well and are looking after each other in these unusual times.
We have received an email today from the City of Stirling stating that they have reviewed the latest directive from the State Health
Department and have considered the attached guidelines from Tennis West. The decision has been made that we are now able to operate our
courts in a strictly limited capacity.
We are experiencing an unprecedented time in the world right now and things have moved very fast over the last week especially. We have done our best to keep you up to date with newsletters and Facebook posts and signs around the club, but the situation has been changing almost daily.
It goes without saying that this is uncharted territory for us all, so we are looking for your support, loyalty and flexibility at this time to look after our valued community hub.
We are aiming to find a responsible balance between keeping our members safe and providing an environment where our relatively low contact
sport can continue for those who choose to. The club has already, and is continuing to, put in place policies to protect is members, staff
and visitors in line with communication from the Department of Health.
You will be aware of the considerable media coverage around the Coronavirus (COVID -19). We are following the guidelines set down by the Federal and State Governments and the World Health Organisation, who are the experts in this matter. The latest
advice from the Department of Health (on Monday 9 March) is as follows:
• if you have been in contact with someone who has contracted the virus, you should seek medical advice and isolate until you are clear
of symptoms for 14 days.
• if you have travelled to or through China, Iran, South Korea or Italy in the past two weeks, please do not come to the Tennis Club
for a period of 14 days from the date of return to Perth.
